Good education includes Bible knowledge

June 3, 2006

English professors at 34 top U.S. colleges agree: "Regardless of a person's faith, an educated person needs to know about the Bible," a new survey says.

The survey of 39 professors from schools such as Yale, Harvard, Princeton and Stanford said knowledge of the Bible is deeply important to a good education. A lack of basic literacy hampers ability to understand both classics and contemporary literature, the study adds.

The report, funded by the John Templeton Foundation, concludes that high schools should make basic Bible knowledge part of the curriculum.
